I don’t like sparring. My Type A personality struggles to be patient and read my opponent. I want to pull out the jump reverse butterfly kick like Chuck Norris and end the match…trouble is I’m not Norris.
Then I learned the phantom kick and unleashed my mind to run at full speed while my body continued to circle the mat.
A phantom kick isn’t supposed to score, heck, it isn’t even supposed to land. It’s design is to divert your opponents attention while you continue to search for a soft spot.
Sometimes a good phantom phrase is required to see what words work and which words should stay in theory…kind of like that jump reverse butterfly kick.
Don’t be afraid to wait to win. Be patient and test the words you use to find the ones that score.
